Our year passes to the San Diego Zoo allow us to enjoy the Safari Park in Escondido. We picked up cousin Porter and Bryant invited his friend Matthew to go with us. The park isn't very big, that far from the house, and stays open till 7pm so we weren't in a rush to get there. It was a lot cooler than we had expected, mid 70's which was perfect weather for walking around and looking at the animals.
Madison was the leader of the pack as we headed into the park.
We have two Greek Tortoises at home, and when Madison got inside this shell she said,"Now I know what Jasmine and Alex feel like in their shells." Hilarious!
The petting zoo was fun. The goats are always really friendly and tolerant of children petting and brushing them.
We were entertained by a Jamaican lion and the singers. It was really neat how big the lion was and that there were two people in sync with each other as they made the lion come to life as it moved and danced.
The boys jumped in on the soul train as it circled around the crowd and back up to the front of the audience. They have "moves like Jagger".
The Safari Tram was a lot of fun with the interesting facts of the animals being explained to us as we rode the 30minute ride.
We went back to the Zoo this week because we were watching cousin Porter at our house while Jen and Scott had their new baby boy Max. The zoo is so big we weren't able to see everything the last time we went...especially at the slow easy pace we took with the little ones....so it was nice to go back and see all the animals we had missed. We took Mclain this time, which he was excited about because he had not gone the last time.
Madison had asked to get her face painted the last time we came but it was at the end of our visit....so as soon as we arrived she remembered to ask first thing so she could wear it all day. Such a girly choice too!
Almost all of the birds are in atrium's except for this huge peacock who was just sitting in this tree almost camouflage; we would have walked right past him except Bryant spotted him right away.
We told Madison to stop "monkeying around" It was so easy to act like the monkeys when they put in fake tree stalks by the exhibits for the kids to climb. :o) Off came her sandals and up she went like she had done it a thousand times before.
Tim and I didn't have to do much when we had the BIG one pushing the stroller and the MEDIUM one holding hands with Porter. He was the center of everyone's attention
What's in here???
